THOMPSON MAKES FIRST MAJOR LEAGUE START
Rich Thompson made made an impact in his debut as aTampa Bay Ray going 1 for 3 with an RBI and two stolen
bases. Rich patrolled centerfield for the Moosic Mets for two seasons. Rich was traded May 16th from Lehigh Valley where he
was batting .307 this season.

Only preliminary selections for the 17U Moosic Mets Summer Showcase Roster have been
made.
Players not yet contacted
are still in consideration and will be followed during the high school season to determine the final roster spots for
the summer team.

has been a great draft year for the Moosic Mets with three more former players being picked in the MLB draft in addition to
Spangenberg.

Spangenberg (2007, 2008) - picked in the 1st round (10th overall) by the San Diego Padres out of Indian River
St. JC
Kyle McMyne (2007) - picked in the 4th round (145th overall) by the Cinncinati Reds out of
Villanova University.
Ray
Black (2007) - picked in the 7th round (247 overall) by the San Francisco Giants out of University of Pittsburgh.
Michael Papi
(2009) - picked in the 30th round (915th overall) by the Los Angeles Angels out of Tunkannock High School.

10th Overall in MLB Draft!
Former Moosic Met Cory Spangenberg (2007, 2008) was picked 10th overall in the 1st round
by the San Diego Padres in the 2011 Major League Draft.

CHOMAN COMMITS TO D-I IONA
Moosic Met first-baseman Christian Choman
recently committed to Iona College to continue his athletic and academic careers. Congratulations Christian!
CANZLER NAMED TRIPLE-A MVP!
Congratulations to Russ Canzler on being named
the Most Valuable Player of the Triple A International League Tuesday. Russ hit 0.312 with 18 home runs and 79 RBI's in his
first triple A season. Russ is a special hitting instructor in the off season with the Moosic Mets.
LEGG AWARDED VUKOVICH AWARD
Greg Legg received the John Vukovich Award from the
Phillies in honor of his 30 years of service to the organization. The award was presented recently at Citizens Bank Park during
Phillies Alumni Weekend. Originally drafted by the Phillies in the
22nd round in the 1982 draft, Legger made his Major League debut in 1986 and played in the organization through 1994 and has
been a coach or manager in the organization ever since.
KNESNIK COMMITS TO D-I STONY BROOK
Moosic Met pitcher Tim Knesnik recently committed
to Stony Brook University to continue his athletic and academic careers. Congratulations Tim!
METS END SEASON WITH SEMI-FINAL BERTH
The Moosic Mets finished up a successful season last week reaching the semi-finals at Diamond Nation.
Chase Knott notched 7 strike outs as the Moosic opened their final tournament with a victory. Bases loaded walks by Ray Grapsy
and Michael Ferrence in the sixth plated the final two runs for the 5-3 win. Six different Mets posted hits.
Jordan
Meyer allowed 1 run on two hits through 7 to get the win in Game 2. Ray Grapsy had a pair of hits including a double and Meyer
helped his cause with a double.
In their final pool game,Tim Knesnik pitched another complete game
striking out 8 putting the Mets directly into the semi-finals. Ray Grapsy led the offense with a homerun and a triple. Mike
Sulcoski had two hits while Jordan Meyer and Logan Hitchcock each doubled. Adam Misiura had 2 rbi’s.
The
Mets took the semi-final game into extra innings eventually losing in the ninth inning. Christian Choman struck out five surrendering
only one run in seven innings of work for a no decision. Joey Baran and Pete Kelly each had doubled for the Mets.
The
Moosic Mets finished the season 11 games over .500 with a record of 34-23-4.
HADDIX HURLS NO-HITTER
HELPS METS TO 2ND PLACE FINISH IN LONG ISLAND
Last
weekend, the Moosic Mets finished runner up in the Antonia Agostinelli Memorial Tournament at Baseball Heaven Long Island,
NY. The Mets played six games in less than 30 hours sweeping through pool play and playoffs eventually losing to the NY Gothams
in the championship game. The Mets pitching staff shined pitching a no-hitter, four complete games and four shutouts on the
weekend.
In the opener, Christian Cerberville doubled, tripled
and homered to lead the offense with 3 RBI. Jordan Meyer also tripled. Billy Nelson pitched six shutout innings and struck
out 11 batters. Chase Knott struck out the side in the 7th inning to preserve the first shut out win.
In game two, Justin Haddix pitched the complete game no-hitter striking out 13 batters including 10 in a row at one
point. Billy Nelson doubled twice and Christian Choman’s 2-run homer was all the Mets needed for
the win.
Tim Knesnik was the next Mets pitcher to
hurl a complete game striking out 9 in the effort. Justin Haddix and Michael Sulcoski each had a pair of hits as did Choman,
homering once again. Michael Ferrence chipped in with a double.
In a game four
pitcher’s duel, Chase Knott threw the next shutout, a complete game 3-hitter giving the Mets a 1-0 win. Michael Sulcoski
singled in Jordan Meyer with winning run in the second inning. Zach Kollar had a pair of hits.
Jordan Meyer scattered 8 hits with 10 K's in his complete game shutout effort. Knott , Cerberville, Choman and Ferrence
all had doubles for the Mets.
METS GO 4-0 IN NORTH CAROLINA
The Moosic Mets won all four of their games last weekend at the USA Baseball Complex in Cary NC.
In a game one pitcher's duel, the Mets beat Canes North by
a score of 2-1. Billy Nelson gave up only 1 hit and struck out 4. Christian Cerberville had a pair of hits.
Tim Knesnik struck out 9 en route to a 4-3 Mets win over the
Delmarva Canes in Game two. Billy Nelson, Christian Choman and Mike Sulcoski had RBI hits for the Mets.
In their third game, Justin Haddix surrendered a lone hit
and struck out 4 in 6 1/3 innings of work as the Mets beat the ITC Spiders 6-4. Sulcoski and Cerberville had two hits apiece
for the Mets.
The Mets wrapped
up the tournament with a 10-0 rout of the Baltimore Blue Jays. Chase Knott and Mickey Ferrence combined for a 5 inning
no hitter. Knott fanned six batters in four innings of work and Mickey Ferrence closed the last inning striking out
two of the three batters he faced. Leading the Mets offense with two hits apiece were Nick Hogan , Billy Nelson and Christian
Cerberville.
The Mets travel
to Baseball Heaven in Long Island next weekend to compete in the Antonia Agostinelli Memorial Tournament.
MOOSIC METS RUNNER UP AT PERFECT
GAME
The Moosic Mets placed this past weekend in the Perfect Game Northeast Qualifier at Baseball Heaven in Long Island
NY. Forty of the country’s top showcase teams competed for a paid berth to the World Wood Bat Championships in Jupiter
Florida. The Mets squad finished out the tournament playing 24 innings of baseball Monday winning their first two playoff
games and taking the championship game to 10 innings.
Mets pitchers Justin
Haddix (North Pocono), Tim Knesnik (Del. Valley), Christian Choman (Holy Redeemer) and Chase Knott (Tunkhannock) all recorded
mound wins. Mets hurler Billy Nelson (North Pocono) impressed scouts with fastballs in excess of 90 mph and Adam Misiura (North
Pocono) was strong in relief performances. Choman also helped the Mets with his bat hitting two clutch home runs in the tournament.
Other leading hitters for the Mets were Billy Nelson & Ray Grapsy (North Pocono), Mike Sulcoski &
Zach Kollar (Hanover Area) and Christian Cerberville (Del. Valley).
The Moosic Mets
will travel to Cary NC in two weeks to compete at the USA Baseball Complex.
